Vajda-Papír’s Dunaföldvár factory unit was awarded the 2021 main prize of the Factory of the Year, which was received by the company’s representatives from Pomázi Gyula, the chairman of the National Office of Intellectual Property, the Vajda-Papír Group told MTI on Wednesday.

According to the announcement, the applicant manufacturing companies were evaluated on the basis of a complex system of criteria in the Factory of the Year competition announced by GyártásTrend Magazin and its publisher, PPH Media Kft.

According to the announcement, Managing Director Vajda Attila emphasized that they applied in several categories – production, best management processes, energy efficiency, industry 4.0, innovation. Mr Vajda thanks to the excellent team, the factory workers, the results of the modernization and developments in recent years could have been the best in several categories and won the main prize with their factory unit in Dunaföldvár.

Since 2018, the company group has been producing a significant part of the basic hygiene paper required for production at its plant in Dunaföldvár. By the summer of 2022, Vajda-Papír’s new production unit in Dunaföldvár will be completed, so the group will triple its base paper production capacity, and the company’s further growth will be ensured by a world-class base paper production machine.
In 2021, the sales revenue of the Vajda-Papír Group increased from HUF 52 billion to HUF 57 billion. The majority of the 10 percent increase in turnover was generated by factories in Hungary, with the Norwegian subsidiary contributing 16.7 billion to performance. The Group’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was HUF 2.7 billion and its pre-tax profit was HUF 1.5 billion. Both the growth of exports and the expansion of the product range played a role in the results.
